Are Dolphins People Too?

I think it's fair to say that if Sea Shepherd was not a household name before the Ady Gil was rammed, they are now.

In my own search online to find interesting links to share here, I was overwhelmed by the number available.  This was just for news media related articles and does not include personal blogs.  Of course, many of the news related articles are basically saying the same thing, so the repetition is common not to mention a little mind numbing.

I read that in the first half hour after the video was put on YouTube showing the Ady Gil being hit, there were over 300,000 views.

Speaking of which, there is supposedly a film that backs the Ady Gil claims of being rammed deliberately by the Shonan Maru 2 ship.  You can check that out here:  Film Backs Ady Gil Claims

Did New Zealand's Foreign Affairs Minister  McCully give the green light to the Japan whalers to escalate the violence?  Sea Shepherd's Captain Watson says yes.

If you'd like to contact Mr. McCully, you can find that information at his Government web page.

For a different perspective on all of this, here's one writer's view: A Whale of a Time      Check out the comments after the article as well.  I usually find those to be as interesting, if not more so, than the article itself :-)

Whale Geek has also thrown her perspective into the ring and it's a really well written and articulate article:  Escalating Whale Wars

Let's move on to other things for now :-)

Here's an interesting question:  Should dolphins be treated as non human persons?

This Wednesday, Jan. 13th, is Wear Blue for Oceans day.  Just a friendly reminder :-)

That's it for today.  Short and sweet after my long rambling one last time!

Mahalo,

Dolphin
